Viet Nam, Japan hold 8th Strategic Partnership Dialogue in Tokyo
VGP - Permanent Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Vu and his Japanese counterpart Funakoshi Takehiro co-chaired the 8th Viet Nam-Japan Strategic Partnership Dialogue in Tokyo, Japan, on December 12.
The two sides agreed to continue working closely and supporting each other at international and regional forums such as the United Nations, ASEAN, and APEC, as well as international issues of mutual concern, contributing to maintaining peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world.
Nguyen reiterated that Viet Nam consistently follows the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralism and diversification and acts as a trusted friend and partner, and an active, responsible member of the international community.
Viet Nam regards Japan as one of its most important and long-term partners and advocates Japan to play a greater role in international and regional issues, asserted the Vietnamese Deputy Minister.
He called on the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs to support and actively participate in international events hosted by Viet Nam in 2025, notably the 4th Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) Summit, and the second ASEAN Future Forum.
Takehiro, for his part, said Viet Nam holds an important position in Japan's foreign policy, expressing his wish that the Viet Nam will send a delegation to attend the Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai.
During his three-day working visit to Japan, Nguyen had meetings with Minister of Justice Suzuki Keisuke and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Miyaji Takuma./.
