Viet Nam is proactive in taking on global responsibilities: Deputy FM- Ảnh 1.

Deputy Foreign Minister Pham Thanh Binh

Deputy Foreign Minister Pham Thanh Binh made the above statement at a recent interview ahead of Pham's tour to Brazil to attend the G20 Summit.

This is the 5th time Viet Nam has been invited to a G20 Summit. Viet Nam attended G20 Summit in 2010 and 2020 as ASEAN Chair, in 2017 as APEC Presidency.

Viet Nam's engagement in this year's Summit reflects the fact that the international community in general and Brazil in particular increasingly attach importance to the role of Viet Nam in global economy as well as its influence and contributions to global multilateral mechanisms.

The Summit provides Viet Nam an opportunity to make proactive, active and responsible contributions to addressing critical and urgent issues facing the world, consolidate and promote cooperation with foreign partners across various fields.

Pham will share Viet Nam's widely-recognized success story on poverty reduction and share the country's view and approach to sustainable development and energy transition in the time to come.

He will also brief about the 4th P4G Summit scheduled to take place in Viet Nam next year. P4G is a leading forum in the world in promoting public-private partnership and connecting governments, businesses, and socio-political organizations in devising breakthrough solutions to green growth to help achieve the sustainable development goals.

Pham will also attend the launch ceremony of the first-ever Global Alliance against Hunger and Poverty, initiated by Brazilian President Lula da Silva at the Ministerial Meeting of the G20 Task Force in July 2024.

This year's G20 Leaders' Summit is scheduled for November 18 and 19, 2024, in Rio de Janeiro, with the presence of the leaders of the 19 member countries, plus the African Union and the European Union.

Themed "Building a Fair World and a Sustainable Planet," the Rio Summit will focus on such topics as poverty reduction, sustainable development, energy transition, and global governance reform.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Pham will hold talks with Brazilian President Lula da Silva to review the agreements reached during the former's official visit to Brazil in September 2023 and to chart major orientations to advance the bilateral ties to a new height.

Pham will also engage in bilateral events to mark the 35th founding anniversary of the Viet Nam-Brazil diplomatic relations./.
