Viet Nam International Aviation Expo opens in Ha Noi
VGP - Viet Nam International Aviation Expo (VIEA) kicked off in Ha Noi on Thursday , looking to promote cooperation opportunities for post-pandemic sustainable development of the aviation industry.
The three-day expo under the theme “Sustainable growth for a brighter future” attracted the participation of more than 50 international and domestic enterprises, including manufacturers, training schools and airlines.
Deputy Miniter of Transport Le Anh Tuan said that the event marked the strong recovery of Viet Nam’s aviation industry after the COVID-19 pandemic.
The expo offered opportunities to promote exchanges and cooperation as well as enhance the image and linkage of Viet Nam’s aviation industry to the world.
After the COVID-19 pandemic, Viet Nam’s aviation industry is recovering at the fastest pace in the world.
Statistics showed that the aviation sector handled 23.3 million passengers in the first half of this year, a year-on-year increase of 74.2 percent and equivalent to 60 per cent of the same period in 2019.
Of the above figure, domestic passengers totalled 20.8 million, up 58.4 per cent and 12 per cent against the same period in 2021 and 2019, respectively.
Vietnamese carriers have resumed 60 domestic routes. The number of passengers through airports in Viet Nam reached 40.7 million, a year-on-year increase of 56.8 percent.
The total supply capacity of Vietnamese airlines was 6.5 million seats, ranking second in Southeast Asia after Indonesia.
On March 15, 2022, the Government allowed quarantine-free entry and resumed its visa waiver for citizens of 24 countries, including Japan, the Republic of Korea and some European economies.
It has also removed most other entry restrictions like medical declaration and COVID-19 tests./.
