Viet Nam highly values Germany’s global role, wishes to deepen strategic partnership
VGP – Viet Nam highly values Germany’s role and position in Europe and the world and always attaches importance to deepening the strategic partnership with the European country.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh made the above statement at his reception for outgoing German Ambassador to Viet Nam Guido Hildner in Ha Noi on Wednesday.
Pham expressed thanks to the Government and people of Germany for donating more than 10 million vaccine doses and medical equipment to help Viet Nam push back the Covid-19 pandemic and quickly reopen the economy.
He spoke highly of Germany's official development assistance over more than 30 years and its suport for Viet Nam's participation in the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP).
Prime Minister Pham urged both countries to continue delegation exchange, maintain existing dialogue mechanisms and work together to effectively implement EU-Viet Nam free trade agreement (EVFTA) and the EU-Viet Nam investment promotion agreement (EVIPA) once the latter comes into effect.
He also called on the German side to support the EC's removal of yellow card warning against Vietnamese seafood exports, enhance technological transfer to Viet Nam, assist Viet Nam in energy transition, climate change, green and sustainable development.
On education and training, Pham suggested Germany increase scholarships for Vietnamese students and promote long-term vocational training cooperation framework and create favorable conditions for Vietnamese to work in the country.
For his part, Ambassador Hildner shared that the bilateral ties have been increasingly consolidated but potential remains vast, particularly in labor, energy transition, and coordination at multilateral forums.
The diplomat said Germany stands ready to import more skilled workers who can bring their family members to Germany under its new regulations.
Hildner spoke highly of Prime Minister Pham's commitments at the COP26, reassuring that Germany will continue close cooperation with Viet Nam through JETP.
Regarding the East Sea issue, both sides underlined the importance of peace, security, stability, freedom of navigation and aviation, peaceful settlement of disputes in accordance with international law./.
