Viet Nam has nearly 70 million people of working age
VGP - Viet Nam has nearly 70 million people of working age (15–64 years), placing the country in a "golden population" period—an important demographic advantage for driving economic growth, fostering innovation, and realizing its development aspirations in the new era.
The above figure was released at a campaign held in the northern province of Hung Yen on July 10 to mark the World Population Day 2026.
Addressing the event, the UNFPA representative stressed that people—especially youth—must be placed at the center of all development policies.
The UNFPA reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Viet Nam in developing evidence-based policies, amplifying young people's voices, promoting gender equality, and advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen affirmed that the Party and the State consistently prioritize creating mechanisms and policies that enable young people to develop their potential, pursue their aspirations, and contribute to the country's development in the new era.
He called on the Viet Nam Population Authority to work closely with ministries, sectors, and local authorities to effectively implement the Population Law and national population programs, particularly the national target program for healthcare, population and development for 2026–2035.
He also expressed hope that the United Nations, UNFPA, and other international organizations would continue providing Viet Nam with technical and financial assistance, as well as sharing international experience in addressing demographic challenges./.
