Smith said, as a diplomat working directly with the business community, international organizations and local partners, timely access to official government information is very important. Before work trips, she and her team regularly update the latest information about provinces and cities through the Government Portal. 

Likewise, when there is information that the UK Government wishes to communicate to the international community, she always places her trust in working with the Government Portal as an authoritative channel to convey that information to the Vietnamese public.

"Every time I see news about the United Kingdom featured on the Viet Nam Government Portal, I feel a sense of pride—almost like receiving a gesture of recognition and welcome from the Vietnamese people themselves", she shared.

The Viet Nam Government Portal is not merely a place for "publishing information"; it is a space for dialogue between the Government and society. Through its articles, readers are not only informed about what the Government is doing, but also why certain policy directions are being pursued. It is an essential source of information that every Vietnamese citizen should have access to.

In a global context where information is moving ever faster and is sometimes insufficiently verified, having a centralised, consistent and transparent source of information is especially important, underlined the diplomat.

In her view, the presence of the Viet Nam Government Portal is a key factor that helps foreign businesses—including British companies—feel more confident when exploring Viet Nam's investment environment and policy framework.

Throughout 2025, the Government Portal regularly updated information on bilateral cooperation between the United Kingdom and Viet Nam, ranging from high-level visits and meetings to cooperation in economic, trade, education, technology, finance and green transition sectors.

During General Secretary H.E. To Lam's official visit to the UK to elevate the bilateral relationship to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership last October, the Government Portal team had done an amazing job reporting the historical moment back to Vietnamese people at home.

For international partners, the Viet Nam Government Portal represents not just news, but clear signals of Viet Nam's long-term direction and its level of commitment to international cooperation.

This indicates its importance in government information access to the citizens.
