Viet Nam funds construction of school in Laos' Xayaboury province
VGP - The Vietnamese Government has provided a grant of more than US$2.1 million for the construction of a new secondary school in Xienghon district, Xayaboury province, Laos.
According to an article released by Vientiane Times on June 20, work on the new school began last month and is expected to be completed in the first half of 2025.
The three-storey school will be 12.5 meters wide and 80.7 meters long and contain 27 classrooms. There will also be a multi-purpose building 30 meters wide and 53 meters long.
Around the school, a gate and entrance road will be built, a sign and a flagpole will be erected, and drainage will be installed.
The project is the result of the continuing cooperation between the governments of Laos and Viet Nam and is a part of the program to improve the educational environment.
The new school will make learning and teaching more enjoyable for both teachers and children in Xienghon district.
Xayaboury provincial authorities thanked the Vietnamese government for its financial support for educational infrastructure, saying this is in line with the province's development policy concerning education and human resource development.
The school will also add to the longstanding ties, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Viet Nam.
Over the years, the Lao and Vietnamese governments have collaborated in numerous spheres, including economic development, education, public health, agriculture, trade, tourism and human resources development.
Laos and Viet Nam are carrying out high-quality projects through cooperation in the fields of education and human resource development from 2021-2030.
The two countries have a long history of mutual assistance in the field of education, which their two governments have identified as a strategic area of cooperation, and a symbol of the special and enduring Lao-Vietnamese relationship./.
