Viet Nam for UNHRC
VGP - Desiring to further contribute effectively to joint efforts in protecting and promoting human rights, Viet Nam formally presented its candidature for membership of the Human Rights Council for the term 2023-2025 at the High-Level Segment, 46th Regular Session Human Rights Council in February 2021.
The country had been endorsed as the ASEAN candidate for this post, and looks forward to the support from all UN Member States.
The candidature of Viet Nam will focus on the protection of vulnerable groups and combating violence and discrimination against these entities;
In 2013, the Southeast Asian country was elected by the UN General Assembly to become member of the Council for the first time with 184/192 votes in favor./.
