Viet Nam, FAO sign new Cooperation Program Framework
VGP – Viet Nam and the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) inked a Cooperation Program Framework for 2022-2026 period, which reflects their strong commitment in boosting sustainable rural and agriculture development in the country.

The agreement to this effect was signed by Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan and FAO Representative to Viet Nam Rémi Nono Womdim in Ha Noi on December 16
The same day, the MARD and the FAO jointly organized the International Support Group (ISG) Plenary Meeting 2021 under the theme “Green partner for a new agriculture”.
Speaking at the event, Rémi Nono Womdim stated that the FAO will continue supporting Viet Nam in transforming food and foodstuff systems in a more effective, inclusive, adaptive and sustainable manner.
Meanwhile, UN Development Program (UNDP) Resident Representative in Viet Nam Caitlin Wiesen spoke highly of Viet Nam’s commitments at the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) which took place in Glasgow, the UK last November.
The UNDP will coordinate with Viet Nam in greening dragon fruit production and shrimp chains in the Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu, which not only helps improve livelihood for local people but also reduces greenhouse gas emissions via using smart tools, she added.
The FAO started working in Viet Nam in 1978. Since then, the FAO Viet Nam has provided technical assistance, advice to the Government, and has been involved in the implementation of some 400 projects in the areas of sustainable agricultural development, food security and nutrition, forestry and fisheries.
