Viet Nam expects to strengthen Halal industry cooperation with Muslim community
VGP – Viet Nam expects cooperation in developing Halal industry will be a new pillar and new driving force in its relations with countries around the world, including the Muslim community, said Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
Pham made the above statement while addressing the first national Halal conference, jointly organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in Ha Noi on October 22.
The Government chief called on countries to share information and experience with Viet Nam and assist the Southeast Asian nation in improving its legal framework and national standards for the development of the Halal industry.
Prime Minister Pham also called for signing agreements and memorandums of understanding on cooperation, including agreements on mutual recognition of Halal certificates, thereby helping Vietnamese enterprises become an important link in the global Halal food production and supply chains.
The market value of the global Halal industry is estimated to reach US$10 trillion before 2028, according to the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
With the number of Muslim people currently accounting for one-fourth of the world’s population and forecast to reach 2.8 billion by 2050, the global Halal industry has enormous growth potential./.
