Viet Nam expects to strengthen cooperation with Poland at multilateral forums
VGP - In the context of increasingly complex and evolving global landscape, Viet Nam wishes to further strengthen its cooperation with Poland, not only bilaterally but also at multilateral forums, contributing to building a stable and prosperous world, said Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang.

Speaking at the celebration of the 234th Anniversary of the Polish Constitution held on May 15 in Ha Noi, the Deputy Minister expressed the aspiration for the traditional friendship between the two countries.
The Constitution of the Republic of Poland, promulgated in 1791, was the first democratic constitution in Europe and the second in the world, after the U.S. one. It is a symbol of patriotism, the desire for freedom, and progress of the Polish people.
Despite geographical distance, said Ms. Hang, Viet Nam and Poland share many similarities in their history of struggle for independence and their processes of nation-building and defense. As a result, the peoples of the two countries have shared deep sympathy and sincere friendship with each other.
The year 2025 marks a particularly significant milestone in the bilateral relationship, as Viet Nam and Poland will celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
"Poland was one of the first ten countries in the world to recognize and establish diplomatic ties with Viet Nam. This reflects the strongest evidence of the close relationship and valuable support the Polish people have extended to Viet Nam during our struggle for independence, unification, and national defense," emphasized the Deputy Minister.
Over the past decades, Poland has helped Viet Nam train thousands of outstanding students—many of whom later became a core force in national development and now serve as important bridges between the two countries.
On this occasion, Viet Nam extended congratulations for the significant achievements made by the Polish Government and people in recent years—turning Poland into one of the world's most dynamic economies, ranking among the world's top 20 largest economies, and playing an increasingly important role in regional organizations and international forums.
In its foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, cooperation, and development, Viet Nam always values and prioritizes promoting relations with traditional friends in Central and Eastern Europe, including Poland.
The friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Viet Nam and Poland have seen positive developments across various fields. Leaders of the two countries have regularly maintained high-level contacts and exchanges while effectively implementing bilateral cooperation mechanisms, thereby enhancing mutual understanding and trust.
Especially, the official visit of Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to Poland in this January, just ahead of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties (February 4, 1950 – February 4, 2025), was a great success and paved the way for a new phase of cooperation. The two sides agreed to soon upgrade bilateral relations to a strategic partnership.
In economic and trade relations, Poland is currently Viet Nam's leading trading partner in Central and Eastern Europe, while Viet Nam is an important trading partner of Poland in Southeast Asia. Both sides are actively leveraging opportunities from the EU-Viet Nam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), aiming to raise bilateral trade turnover to US$5 billion in the near future.
Cooperation in education, training, national defense, science and technology, security, culture, and labor has been on the rise.
In the face of global uncertainties, Viet Nam once again reaffirmed its desire to deepen cooperation with Poland in multilateral mechanisms, contributing to peace, stability, and sustainable development in the region and the world.
"With the attention of leaders and the efforts of both peoples, the Viet Nam–Poland relationship will continue to reach new heights, becoming increasingly profound, substantive, and effective across all areas," expressed Deputy Minister Le.
On the Polish side, Ms. Joanna Skoczek — Head of the Delegation of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Ha Noi — affirmed that with its advantageous geographical location at the "heart" of Europe and its role as the rotating Presidency of the European Union (EU) in the first half of 2025, Poland is committed to striving for a prosperous and secure future for generations to come./.
