Viet Nam expects China to push for railway links
VGP - Viet Nam expects China to boost cooperation in building standard-gauge railway lines linking the two countries, said Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

Prime Minister Pham made the above statement on Tuesday during a reception for newly-accredited Chinese Ambassador to Viet Nam He Wei.
Pham also called on China to continue opening door for Viet Nam's farm produce, quickly launch large-scale investment projects in the Southeast Asian country.
The two countries should coordinate in organizing Viet Nam-China Humanistic Exchange Year to celebrate the 75th founding anniversary of the sides' diplomatic ties in 2025, Pham suggested.
Viet Nam consistently regards the development of relations with China an objective requirement, a strategic choice, and a top priority in its foreign policy, assured the Prime Minister.
Pham urged the two sides to seriously implement high-level common perceptions to better control and settle differences at sea, respect each other's legitimate rights and interests, and properly handle disagreements in accordance with international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
He took the occasion to thank China for sharing hydrological information and cooperation in regulating water release from hydropower dams to minimize flood damage.
In reply, He Wei pledged to spare no effort to nurture the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with Viet Nam.
The diplomat said both countries should maintain close coordination at multilateral mechanisms and international forums, work together to better control and settle maritime disagreements based on the existing agreements and high-level common perceptions for the happiness of the two people and for peace and stability in the region./.
