Viet Nam enters top 10 global LEED green building markets
VGP - Viet Nam, for the first time, has entered the top 10 countries and regions outside the U.S. for LEED-certified projects in 2025, ranking 8th globally, announced the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and the Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI).

The achievement reflects the rapid growth of green building projects in the country's real estate market.
According to USGBC data, in 2025, the nation recorded 2.6 million square meters of LEED-certified floor area across 100 projects. Two years earlier, Viet Nam ranked 28th on this list.
Globally, more than 7,500 commercial projects received LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification in 2025, with a combined floor area exceeding 147 million square meters.
According to the USGBC, the ranking is based on the total LEED-certified floor area each year, reflecting the scale and level of development of green building markets in each country.
Viet Nam's presence in the global top 10 showed that more developers are prioritizing green buildings, while also demonstrating increasing alignment between real estate investment strategies and environmental standards.
The rise in LEED-certified projects in the nation reflects a structural shift in the real estate market, where environmental performance and operational efficiency are becoming key competitive factors.
Office buildings, industrial factories, and mixed-use developments are increasingly adopting green building certifications to attract multinational tenants, meet ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) criteria, and optimize long-term operating costs.
The growing adoption of internationally recognized green building standards is directly influencing investment decisions in Viet Nam's real estate market. In addition to profitability, investors are increasingly focusing on operational transparency, resource efficiency, and tenant quality when evaluating assets./.
