Viet Nam elected as Vice President of 43rd session of UNESCO’s General Conference

The nation's election to this position for two consecutive sessions demonstrates the country's increasing standing, reputation, and capability in contributing to global multilateral mechanisms.
It also reflects the international community's support and trust in Viet Nam's proactive, responsible role and leadership capacity.
The General Conference is UNESCO's highest decision-making body, comprising 194 members. It holds the authority to determine the organization's strategic issues such as orientations, policies, cooperation programs, medium-term budgets, and the election of leadership bodies.
Viet Nam's re-election to the position is expected to enhance the country's substantive contributions to policy formulation, coordination, and implementation of UNESCO initiatives across education, culture, natural sciences, social sciences, and information and communication.
The Vietnamese delegation, led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ngo Le Van, is actively participating in the session, which is running from October 30 to November 13.
During his meeting with newly appointed Director-General of UNESCO Khaled El-Enany, the Deputy Minister conveyed a letter from Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung, extending congratulations and inviting El-Enany to visit Viet Nam in the near future.
In addition, Ngo also had meetings with President of the 43rd Session of the UNESCO General Conference Khondker M. Talha, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Aloyev Bakhromjon Juraboyevich, as well as UNESCO leaders and heads of delegations from several member states.
These meetings focused on seeking measures to strengthen cooperation between Viet Nam and UNESCO and other countries, and seek support for Viet Nam's initiatives and nomination dossiers for UNESCO titles.
International partners acknowledged and highly appreciated Viet Nam's socio-economic development achievements and its increasingly active and substantive contributions to UNESCO, the United Nations, and other multilateral forums./.
