Viet Nam determined to master strategic technologies
VGP - Prime Minister Le Minh Hung has reassured Viet Nam’s determination to master strategic technologies and strengthen national self-reliance.

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung
Le made the assurance while addressing a ceremony held in Ha Noi on Monday to mark Viet Nam Science, Technology and Innovation (May 18).
He emphasized that Viet Nam targets to become a modern industrialized country by 2030 and a high-income developed country by 2045.
Science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation have been identified as the "golden key" to realize the aforesaid goals, stressed the Prime Minister.
He tasked the Ministry of Science and Technology to coordinate with ministries, localities, businesses, research institutes and universities to effectively implement the national list of strategic technologies and strategic tech products.
Strategic technologies, he stressed, must be transformed into high value-added products that can contribute to enhancing productivity and national competitiveness.
Prime Minister Le called for adoption of bold and practical incentive mechanisms that can be implemented immediately, alongside a rapid review and removal of bottlenecks related to financial mechanisms for science, technology and innovation activities.
He noted that financial mechanisms in the science and technology sector must be designed to encourage breakthroughs and innovation, warning that conventional investment procedures could hinder creativity and technological advancement.
The State, he said, should accept controlled risks, evaluate investments based on outputs and practical efficiency, and encourage greater contributions from businesses and society to the development of priority strategic technology products.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the State's role in facilitating and coordinating development efforts, supporting research and development activities, and serving as the first buyer of strategic technology products once conditions are met. Each task, he said, should clearly define expected products, lead agencies, participating businesses and research institutes, resources and implementation timelines.
He underscored the need to build an effective innovation ecosystem in which the State focuses on institutional development, research institutes and universities generate knowledge, technology and human resources, and enterprises play the central role in technology application and commercialization./.
