Minister of Environment cum Minister for Gender Equality Magnus Johannes Heunicke made the above suggestion on November 25 during his meeting with Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha who is on a working visit to Denmark.

Heunicke emphasized that the establishment of the Green Strategic Partnership in November 2023 between Viet Nam and Denmark holds significant importance for cooperation in sustainable development, green transition, energy transition, and environmental protection.

He hailed the Vietnamese Government's commitment and determination to achieve green growth, sustainable development, and net-zero emissions goals as pledged at the COP26, implement the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP), and host the upcoming third Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) Summit next year.

Denmark advocates Viet Nam's proposals related to the P4G Summit, he said, voicing his support for cooperation initiatives between the two environment ministries.

Tran, for his part, expressed his gratitude to Denmark for its companionship and support for Viet Nam in addressing climate change issues, and carrying out numerous cooperative projects in fields of energy, natural resources, environment, and green growth.

He suggested both sides effectively implement the Viet Nam-Denmark Joint Action Plan for 2024-2025 and promote linkages between businesses and localities of both countries in the joint efforts to speed up green transition process.

Tran emphasized the need to step up collaboration in resource management, environmental protection, water resource management, waste treatment (particularly wastewater and plastic waste), and pollution control.

He called on Denmark to help Viet Nam enhance the resilience of vulnerable communities affected by climate change, especially in the Mekong Delta region.

The Deputy Prime Minister reiterated that Viet Nam stands ready to work with other countries to jointly address plastic waste and has launched specific measures to reduce environmental pollution caused by plastic waste./.
