Viet Nam, Croatia should set up Joint Commission to boost economic cooperation

VGP – Prime Minister Le Minh Hung suggested Viet Nam and Croatia should establish a Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation to create a long-term, stable, and effective cooperation framework between the two countries.

Prime Minister Le made the suggestion during his reception for Croatian Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman in Ha Noi on May 18.

He called on Croatian enterprises to invest in Viet Nam’s priority sectors like seaport, logíistics, renewable energy, tourism, science and technology, digital transformation, innovation, and climate change adaptation.

The Prime Minister urged Croatia to promote the ratification of the EU-Viet Nam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) by the remaining EU member states to give a strong boost to trade and investment cooperation between Viet Nam and the EU.

Le also sought Croatia’s support for the EC’s removal of “yellow card” warning against Vietnamese seafood exports.

Grlić Radman, who is on his first official visit to Viet Nam in his capacity as the Croatian Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, congratulated on Viet Nam’s remarkable achievements in socio-economic development and international integration.

He spoke highly of Viet Nam’s role in maintaining and consolidating peace, security, and cooperation in the region, affirming that Croatia attaches importance to the traditional friendship and cooperation with Viet Nam.

Grlić Radman expressed his wish that both countries would further strengthen substantive and effective cooperation in the domains of economy, trade, investment, defense and security, science and technology, education and training, energy, seaport development, tourism, and logistics.

The minister also reiterated Croatia’s support for stronger Viet Nam-EU relations through fruitful implementation of the EU-Viet Nam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and prompt ratification of the EVIPA.

Grlić Radman expressed his wish that both sides would continue close coordination at multilateral forums, thus contributing to peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the two regions and the world./.
