Viet Nam confirms 52 new COVID-19 cases

VGP – The Ministry of Health confirmed 52 new COVID-19 cases, including 49 domestic infections, taking the national patient tally to 3,623.

The community infection cases were reported in Da Nang (20), Ha Noi (nine), Bac Giang (11), Bac Ninh (five), Ha Nam (one), Thai Binh (one), Hung Yen (one), and Phu Tho (one).

Meanwhile, other cases are Vietnamese repatriated from Malaysia on May 11, said the ministry.

Earlier in the morning, the ministry confirmed 34 COVID-19 cases, including 33 local infections.

Viet Nam has experienced the 4th wave of community transmissions since April 27, with 610 cases confirmed in 26 cities and provinces nationwide, in which Ha Noi, Bac Ninh, Bac Giang and Da Nang are hardest hit with a total of 447 cases.

Dozens of localities have decided to suspend non-essential services and close schools to prevent spread of the virus.

Speaking at an online meeting with leaders of Da Nang, Bac Ninh and Bac Giang on Wednesday, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam urged localities to do their best to prevent COVID-19 transmissions at industrial parks in a bid to sustain economic activities.

He also tasked localities to ensure strict implementation of preventive measures at workers’ residential areas, markets and service facilities./.
