Viet Nam, Canada agree to speed up talks for mutual recognition of vaccine passports
VGP – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Tuesday met with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on the sidelines of the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow, Scotland.

The two PMs expressed their pleasure at the fine development of the comprehensive partnership between Viet Nam and Canada, and agreed to continue fostering bilateral cooperation, especially in politics and diplomacy through the exchange of delegations and contacts.
They agreed to actively seize the opportunities brought by the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) in a bid to raise the two-way trade to at least US$8 billion.
Pham suggested the Canadian side to facilitate import of Vietnamese farm produce, including seasonal fruits, coffee and cashew, and called on Canadian investors to enhance investment in such fields like green economy, digital economy, and climate change response.
He also asked Canada to assist Viet Nam in reforming institutions, providing financial support, and training human resources to strengthen its capacity for dealing with climate change.
The two sides agreed to step up talks for early mutual recognition of green visas and vaccine passports, contributing to accelerating economic recovery in both countries.
On multilateral aspect, the two leaders shared the view on maintaining peace and stability, promoting the legitimate and lawful interests on the basis of international law for common peace and prosperity.
Trudeau affirmed the spirit of the rule of law and the importance of promoting a rule-based world order.
