This is the first visit of the Vietnamese State President to Cambodia after the 13th National Party Congress with the formulation of the nation's new leadership.

The visit will kick off a series of activities within the Viet Nam-Cambodia Solidarity and Friendship Year and the Cambodia-Viet Nam Solidarity and Friendship Year and the 55th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries (June 24, 1967-June 24, 2022).

The bilateral relations have flourished over the past year thanks to regular maintenance of online contacts and talks between the two countries.

Viet Nam and Cambodia has completed 84% of border demarcation and landmark planting work.

In the first ten months of 2021, the two-way trade hit US$7.87 billion, representing a year-on-year increase of 87.5%.

Viet Nam ranked fifth out of FDI investors in Cambodia by pouring US$ 2.88 billion of register capital and 188 projects.

During pandemic time, the two countries have upheld the sense of solidarity. In 2020, the Vietnamese Government provided cash and medical facilities worth US$ 300,000 for the neighboring country.

In 2021, Viet Nam also gifted Cambodia with US$ 500,000, 800 ventilators, two million facemasks, and 300,000 N95 facemasks worth US$10 million.
