Viet Nam becomes biggest importer of Cambodia’s farm products
VGP – Viet Nam was the biggest importer of Cambodia’s agricultural products over the first nine months of 2021, making up 64.11 percent of Cambodia’s total farm export value, said Cambodian Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Veng Sakhon.
According to the statistics of the Vietnamese General Department of Customs, over the first nine months of the year, Viet Nam-Cambodia trade value hit US$7.245 billion, a year-on-year soar of 90.9 percent.
Viet Nam’s exports and imports from Cambodia hit US$3.537 billion and US$3.708 billion, up 16.1 percent and 396.4 percent, respectively.
Viet Nam mainly imported cashew and rubber from Cambodia and reported a trade deficit of US$171 million.
According to the Government's Decree No.83/2021/ND-CP prescribing special preferential import tariffs to implement a bilateral trade agreement between Viet Nam and Cambodia in 2021-2022, Viet Nam levies zero import duty on 31 commodities from Cambodia, including live poultry, poultry meat and by-products, and unprocessed tobacco leaves between September 13, 2021 and December 31, 2022.
