Viet Nam, Argentina to establish strategic partnership in industry and agriculture
VGP - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hosted a reception for Argentinean Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship Diana Elena Mondino in Ha Noi on Wednesday.
Pham reiterated that Viet Nam always attaches importance to the traditional friendship and comprehensive partnership with Argentina.
He expressed his satisfaction on the active development in the bilateral ties as well as the outcomes of the talks between the Argentinean Minister and the Vietnamese Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son.
He proposed both sides foster close coordination to enhance all-level delegation exchanges, particularly high-ranking delegation and speed up negotiations to sign cooperation documents to create favorable legal frameworks for business and investment activities.
The Prime Minister emphasized the need to make easier for each side's advantageous products to get access to their markets, thus improving the value of bilateral trade ties, heading to build long-term cooperation between their businesses.
The two-way trade value hit US$3.45 billion in 2023, making Viet Nam the sixth biggest trade partner and the fifth largest importer of Argentina's products while Argentina is currently the third biggest trade partner of Viet Nam Latin America, noted Pham.
He suggested both nations make efforts to increase the bilateral trade value, calling on Argentina to advocate and promote the negotiations of a free trade agreement (FTA) between Viet Nam and the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR).
The PM asked for bolstering stronger ties in such spheres as culture, sports, football training, tourism, education and training, security, defense, climate change adaption, green development, digital transformation, circular economy, clean agriculture, sea and air transport cooperation, production of animal feed, plant protection drugs, and vaccines for livestock.
Both countries should voice their support for each other at multilateral forums and international organizations and step up collaboration between regional organizations such as ASEAN and MERCOSUR.
For her part, Diana Elena Mondino, asserted that the Argentinean Government places importance on the increasing role and status of Viet Nam in the region and the world.
She recommended both sides continue enhancing cooperation in fields of finance, tax and aviation, expressing her hope that Viet Nam will continue developing the bilateral relations with Argentina in such areas as agriculture and trade, towards establishing a strategic partnership in industry and agriculture./.
