Viet Nam and Bhutan promote friendly relations

VGP - Vietnamese Ambassador to India, Nepal, and Bhutan Nguyen Thanh Hai presented Credentials to King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck in Thimpu, the capital of Bhutan, on June 14.

After the ceremony, the King hosted a reception for the Ambassador, who conveyed President Vo Van Thuong's greetings and invitation to the King to visit Viet Nam.

King Wangchuck congratulated Nguyen on being appointed Ambassador of Viet Nam to the Kingdom of Bhutan. He expressed his admiration for Viet Nam's past struggle for national liberation, its present socioeconomic development achievements, and its international integration process.

The King highly appreciated the enhanced people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, which he said, has helped foster bilateral cooperation in economy, trade, investment, and other fields.

He took the occasion to share major directions in the development of Bhutan, the happiest country in the world.

For his part, Ambassador Nguyen expressed his honor to undertake a new mission in Bhutan.

The diplomat vowed to try his best to promote mutual understanding and bilateral cooperation in the fields of mutual interest and strengths, such as tourism, agriculture, afforestation, furniture production, garment making, and services, to name but a few.

Viet Nam and Bhutan established diplomatic relations in January 2012. The two countries have maintained good friendly relations.

Viet Nam has two investment projects in Bhutan with a total registered capital of US$937,000. Along with the increasing number of tourists to each other's markets, bilateral trade has gradually been enhanced after the COVID-19 pandemic./.
