Viet Nam always gives highest priority to special relationship with Laos
VGP – Viet Nam always attaches importance and gives the highest priority to the special relationship with Laos, said Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

Prime Minister Pham made the above statement at his reception for Lao Deputy Prime Mininister and Foreign Minister Saleumxay Kommasith in Ha Noi on Wednesday.
Pham pledged that Viet Nam will continue assisting Laos in successfully hosting the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2024.
Saleumxay conveyed the greetings of Party General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith, Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone and other senior Lao leaders to Vietnamese Party General Secretary NguyenPhu Trong and other Vietnamese leaders.
Saleumxay expressed his sincere thanks to Viet Nam's valuable support and assistance for his country's national liberation in the past and the current course of national construction and defense.
Earlier the same day, Vietnamese Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son and Lao Deputy Prime Mininister and Foreign Minister Saleumxay Kommasith co-chaired the the 10th ministerial-level political consulation meeting.
Both sides agreed to continue close coordiantion and mutual support at multilateral forums, especially ASEAN and Mekong Subregion cooperation mechanisms.
The two sides also agreed to support ASEAN's common positions over strategic issues in the region, including the East Sea issue.
Foreign Minister Bui spoke highly fo Laos' active preparations for the ASEAN Chairmanship 2024, and emphasized that Viet Nam stands ready to support Laos to take over the role./.
