Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang made the above statement at a press briefing in Ha Noi on Thursday.

Pham stated that Viet Nam is closely monitoring the situation in Cuba and believes that Cuba will overcome its current difficulties and challenges.

Viet Nam reaffirms its traditional solidarity and friendship with the brotherly Cuban people and consistently supports resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly calling for the removal of the unilateral embargo against Cuba, she emphasized.

The diplomat said that Viet Nam welcomes and supports Cuba and the U.S. to conduct dialogues to seek solutions to differences in their bilateral relations on the basis of respect for independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the fundamental principles of international law.

Viet Nam hopes that both sides will soon reach common ground and move toward improving and normalizing relations for the benefit of their peoples as well as for peace, cooperation, stability, and development in the region and the world, Pham underlined./.
