Vị Thanh Town upgraded to a provincial city
VGP – The Government has adopted a resolution to upgrade Vị Thanh Town of the southern province of Hậu Giang to the provincial city.
The city covers the natural area of 11,867.74 hectares and has
a population of 97,222, with nine commune-level administrative units.

Thanh has completed the technical infrastructure construction of an industrial
park with the total investment capital of VND 116 billion. First projects have beed
registered here.
Some
70% of the city’s land has been planned through 48 ratified projects. Separate
urban, administrative, trade-service sections will be set up soon.
By,
the year of 2015, the city eyes to achieve an annual GDP growth rate of 18-19% and
income per capita at VND 70 million/year. Industrial production value is
projected at VND 25,000 billion and urbanization rate some 75%.
