U.S supports strong and prosperous Viet Nam: Wendy Sherman
VGP – The U.S. attaches importance to the comprehensive partnership with Viet Nam, and consistently supports a strong and prosperous Viet Nam, said Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman.
Sherman, who is on a working visit to Viet Nam, made the above statement on Tuesday at her meeting with Vietnamese Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son in Ha Noi.
She spoke highly of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's recent tour to the U.S., during which both sides reached practical outcomes in favor of stronger ties between the two countries, especially in such fields like economy, trade and investment.
Meanwhile, Bui emphasized Viet Nam considers the U.S. one of its top important partners, and stands ready to work with the U.S. to deepen the Viet Nam-U.S. comprehensive partnership in a practical and effective manner on the basis of respect for independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and political institutions.
Both sides discussed measures to step up bilateral ties, including the exchange of high-level delegations, COVID-19 management, post-pandemic recovery, trade and investment, and settlement of war consequences among others.
The two sides also compared notes on regional and international issues of shared concerns such as initiatives that bridge the Asia-Pacific and Indian Ocean region, the East Sea, sustainable development, education cooperation in Mekong Subregion, Russia-Ukraine situation./.
