U.S. remains largest importer of Vietnamese goods in 2021

VGP – The U.S. remained the largest buyer of Vietnamese goods in 2021 by spending US$95.6 billion while China continued to be the largest exporter of goods to Viet Nam with US$109.9 billion, according to the General Statistics Office.

Viet Nam’s trade volume with the rest of the world hit US$668.5 billion in 2021, up 22.6 percent compared to the previous year.

Of the above figure, the country's export turnover grew by 19 percent to US$336.25 billion while its import value increased by 26.5 percent to 332.25 billion. 

As many as 35 items had total export turnover of US$1 billion each and eight of them enjoying the export value of over US$10 billion each. 

Viet Nam enjoyed a trade surplus worth US$23 billion with the EU, up 12.1 percent while experiencing a trade deficit with China, the RoK, ASEAN and Japan with respective figures of US$54 billion, US$34.2 billion, US$12 billion and US$2.4 billion.
