Prime Minister hosts reception for Chairman of KKR Global Institute David Petraeus
VGP - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hosted a reception for David Petraeus, a Partner at the Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR) and Chairman of the KKR Global Institute in Ha Noi on December 10.
Prime Minister Pham said that since Viet Nam and the U.S. became Comprehensive Strategic Partners, bilateral economic and trade relations have continued sustainable development trajectory.
The U.S. has established its position as the top importer of Vietnamese goods over the last 20 years.
The U.S. is the 11th largest foreign investor in Viet Nam, with more than 1,400 projects capitalized at US$11.94 billion. Pham hoped that American investors would continue to increase investments in Viet Nam.
Prime Minister Pham called on the KKR to continue to step investments and expand partnership with Vietnamese enterprises, especially in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, semiconductor, development of innovative startup ecosystem, digital transformation, and renewable energy.
He took the occasion to call upon the U.S. to recognize Viet Nam as a market economy and remove restrictions related to high-tech exports to Viet Nam, for the common interests of both countries and peoples.
Pham also called on the U.S. not to use trade defense measures against Vietnamese exports or take actions that affect the very good relationship between the two countries.
In reply, Mr. David Petraeus congratulated the Vietnamese Government and Nvidia Corporation on signing a cooperation agreement to establish Nvidia's Artificial Intelligence (AI) Research and Development Center and AI Data Center in Viet Nam.
He proposed Viet Nam continue to improve the business and investment environment, develop infrastructure, streamline administrative procedures for businesses, including KKR Investment Fund to expand operation in Viet Nam./.
