U.S. finances US$4.4 million for Viet Nam to launch Fertilizer Right Project

The event saw the participation of Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Hoang Trung, U.S. Ambassador to Viet Nam Marc E. Knapper, and Agricultural Counselor of the U.S. Embassy Ralph Bean.
The project, which spans four years, has an estimated budget of US$4.4 million financed by the U.S.
Addressing the launch ceremony, U.S. Ambassador to Viet Nam Marc Knapper, stated, in 2023, Viet Nam and the U.S. upgraded their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership, opening up new opportunities for agricultural cooperation towards sustainable development.
The U.S. is Viet Nam's second-largest importer of agricultural products, and Viet Nam holds a significant position in global food security, he noted.
The Ambassador highlighted that the Fertilizer Right Project will offer technical support and training for rice farmers to enhance their livelihoods, ensure food security, and improve soil health.
The project aims to bolster Viet Nam's achievement of economic development goals in the agricultural sector, facilitate market access, and address climate change concerns.
Specifically, the project seeks to enhance fertilizer use efficiency, increase farmer incomes, and mitigate greenhouse gas emissions in rice cultivation by adopting appropriate fertilizers.
The project will be implemented across three provinces in the Red River Delta, namely Hai Duong, Thai Binh, and Nam Dinh, and three localities in the Mekong Delta, namely Can Tho, Dong Thap, and Soc Trang./.
