U.S. expects to lift relations with Viet Nam to new height

VGP - American Ambassador to Viet Nam Marc E. Knapper assured that the U.S. expects to lift the relationship with Viet Nam to a new height, during his meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh in Ha Noi on Thursday.

Marc E. Knapper said a growing number of American investors are interested in various fields in Viet Nam, including energy, adding that the U.S. hopes to become a major partner of Viet Nam in this sector. 

In reply, the Deputy Prime Minister reiterated Viet Nam always look to further deepen the relationship with the U.S. on the basis of mutual respect for independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and each other's political institutions.

He spoke highly of the recent advancements in the bilateral ties, especially the sides' cooperation in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, post-COVID recovery, climate change adaption, education and training. 

Le assured that the Government always welcomes and creates favorable conditions for foreign investors to successfully run investment projects in Viet Nam. Last year, the two-way trade set a new record of US$111 billion in 2021.
