UN Secretary-General to visit Viet Nam this week
VGP – United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres will pay an official visit to Viet Nam from October 21 – 22 at the invitation of President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on October 18./.
The United Nations Secretary-General congratulated Viet Nam on wining a seat on the UN Human Rights Council for the 2023-2025 term during his reception for Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Permanent Representative of Viet Nam to the UN in New York on October 13.
He told the diplomat that he would pay an official visit to Viet Nam on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of Viet Nam's accession to the UN later this year.
The visit aims to deliver a strong message of the importance the UN attaches to the Viet Nam-UN partnership over the past 45 years, Antonio Guterres.
Viet Nam is one of the indispensable members of the UN, and has been making significant contributions to the UN's common work in solving global challenges, for peace and development in the world, he noted./.
