Two Vietnamese scientists wins Hitachi Global Foundation Asia Innovation Award 2025
VGP - Two scientists from Ha Noi University of Science and Technology (HUST) have been awarded with the Hitachi Global Foundation Asia Innovation Award 2025.

Assoc. Prof. Dr.Chu Manh Hung (L) and Dr Vu Thi Tan
Assoc. Prof. Dr.Chu Manh Hung from the School of Materials Science and Engineering won the Outstanding Innovation Award, while Dr Vu Thi Tan from the School of Chemistry and Life Sciences received an Encouragement Award.
Associate Professor Chu Manh Hung's current research focuses on the synthesis and structural characterization of nanostructured semiconductor materials for sensor applications, the development of two-dimensional materials, and advanced structural analysis using synchrotron radiation sources.
Meanwhile, Dr Vu Thi Tan's work centers on advanced carbon-based materials and green cosmetic chemistry.
Her research also covers the synthesis of metal oxide nanomaterials for energy applications and environmental treatment, graphite purification and its application in electrode fabrication technologies, as well as the development of inorganic coating systems with fire-retardant and thermal insulation properties.
Launched in 2020 by the Hitachi Global Foundation, the Hitachi Global Foundation Asia Innovation Award recognizes outstanding achievements in scientific research and technological innovation.
In 2025, the program attracted participation from around 26 selected universities across ASEAN member states. The awards are presented in three categories: Outstanding Innovation Award, Innovation Award and Encouragement Award, each accompanied by a cash prize in accordance with program regulations.
