Tran Thanh Man re-elected as top Vietnamese legislator

 In his oath-taking remarks Tran pledged absolute loyalty to the Fatherland, the people and the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and committed to fulfilling the duties entrusted by the Party, State and people.

Chairman Man was born in 1962 in Thanh Xuan commune, Can Tho city. He holds a doctorate in economics and a bachelor’s degree in politics. He is currently a Politburo member, and Secretary of the NA Party Committee.

He served as an alternate member of the Party Central Committee in the 10th tenure; a member of the Party Central Committee in the 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th tenures; a member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat in the 12th tenure; and a Politburo member in the 13th and 14th tenures. He has been a NA deputy for the 13th, 14th, 15th and 16th legislatures.

The same day, legislators cast votes to elect Do Van Chien, Nguyen Khac Dinh, Nguyen Thi Thanh, Nguyen Hong Dien, Nguyen Doan Anh, and Nguyen Thi Hong as Vice Chairpersons of the 16th National Assembly.

They also elected Lam Van Man as Chairman of the National Assembly's Council for Ethnic Affairs, Phan Chi Hieu as Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee for Legal and Judicial Affairs, Phan Van Mai as Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee for Economic and Financial Affairs, Le Tan Toi as Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee for Defense, Security, and Foreign Affairs, Nguyen Dac Vinh as Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee for Cultural and Social Affairs, Nguyen Thanh Hai as Chairwoman of the National Assembly's for Science, Technolog and Environment, Nguyen Huu Dong as Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee for Deputy Affairs, and Le Thi Nga as Chairwoman of the National Assembly's Committee for People's Aspirations and Supervision.

Mr. Le Quang Manh was elected as Secretary-General of the 16th National Assembly and Chairman of the National Assembly's Office./.
