Top Vietnamese legislator leaves for three-day official visit to Russia
VGP – Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Tran Thanh Man left Ha Noi on Sunday morning for an official visit to Russia at the invitation of Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Victorovich Volodin and Chairwoman of the Federation Council Valentina Ivanovna Matvienko.
The top Vietnamese legislator is accompanied by NA Vice Chairman Nguyen Khac Dinh, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, NA General Secretary and Chairman of the NA Office Bui Van Cuong, Chairman of the NA Committee for External Relations Vu Hai Ha, Chairman of the NA Committee for Culture and Eduction Nguyen Dac Vinh, Chairman of the NA Committee for Economic Affairs, Chairman of the NA Committee for Science, Technology and Environment Le Quang Huy, Chairman of the NA Committeee for Defense and Security Le Tan Toi, Minister of Construction Nguyen Thanh Nghi, Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan, Deputy Minister of National Defense Le Minh Luong, Deputy Minister of Public Security Le Quoc Hung, and Ambassador of Viet Nam to Russia Dang Minh Khoi.
This is the first visit to Russia by Tran since he was elected the top legislator of Viet Nam on May 20, 2024, and the first Russia visit by a senior Vietnamese leader this year.
The visit aims to concretize the Joint Declaration on deepening the Viet Nam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership reached during President Vladimir Putin's Viet Nam visit last June and the outcomes of phone conversation between General Secretary and President To Lam and President Putin on August 8, 2024.
It is expected to make significant contributions to consolidate and enhance the Viet Nam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership in general and between the two parliaments in particular./.
