General Secretary and President To Lam meets with Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni on the sidelines of the 19th Francophonie Summit in Paris, October 5, 2024.

The top Vietnamese leader congratulated Cambodia on its achievements over the past 20 years under the leadership of King Norodom Sihamoni, expressing his belief that Cambodia will continue gaining more important and comprehensive achievements to further improve life of Cambodian people and the neighboring's role and position on the international arena.

To also congratulated Cambodia on its election as the host of the 20th Francophonie Summit in 2026, affirming Viet Nam's support for Cambodia to successfully organize this important event.

Viet Nam always treasures the historical values in the Viet Nam-Cambodia relations as well as the Viet Nam-Laos-Cambodia ties, and will continue close coordination with Cambodia and Laos to promote cooperation among the three countries in a substantive and effective manner, for the practical benefits of all the three sides.

King Norodom Sihamoni thanked Viet Nam for its steadfast support for and confidence in Cambodia's development path.

The two leaders expressed their pleasure at the achievements of the good neighborliness, traditional friendship, time-honored, and sustainable and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries over the past time.

The pair expressed their wish that generations of the two countries' leaders will continue nurturing and promoting the bilateral ties in the new development period.

The same day, General Secretary and President To Lam met with Mauritania's President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani, who is now Chairperson of the African Union (AU).

During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to foster cooperation between the two countries and between ASEAN and the AU.

The top Vietnamese leader invited President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani to visit Viet Nam at an appropriate time./.
