Top legislator meets Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim
VGP – Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man met with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday.

Anwar warmly welcomed the top Vietnamese legislator on an official visit to Malaysia, expressing his belief that the visit would inject new momentum to the bilateral ties, especially between the two legislative bodies.
Anwar expressed his respect for President Ho Chi Minh and his admiration for Vietnamese people's struggle for national independence, particularly the Dien Bien Phu victory in 1954.
He affirmed that Malaysia regards Viet Nam as its important partner and wishes to further strengthen relations with Viet Nam.
Anwar took the occasion to convey his greetings to General Secretary To Lam, State President Luong Cuong, and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
Tran, for his side, conveyed the greetings from General Secretary To Lam, State President Luong Cuong, and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to Prime Minister Anwar and other senior Malaysian leaders.
He extended his profound sympathies to Malaysian people affected by landslides in Sabah state, expressing his wish that they would soon overcome difficulties and stabilize their life.
The two leaders noted with pleasure at the positive and substantive growth of the Viet Nam-Malaysia relations, particularly since the two countries elevated ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership, with two-way trade increasing by 8 percent on year to US$9.23 billion in the first seven months this year.
Both sides agreed that the two countries will continue consolidating political trust through the exchange of delegations at all levels and strengthening trade and investment in a bid to raise bilateral trade to US$18 as mutually agreed upon.
The two leaders agreed to step up cooperation in such fields like energy, science and technology, digital transformation, innovation, artificial intelligence, Halal food, and ASEAN power grid development.
Tran called on the two sides to soon adopt an action program to implement the Viet Nam-Malaysia comprehensive strategic partnership for the 2025-2030 period, to actively carry out green energy projects, and to engage in tripartie cooperation on electricity export from Viet Nam to Malaysia and Singapore.
The top Vietnamese legislator congratulated Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in particular and Malaysia in general on their role as ASEAN Chair 2025 with many outstanding achievements. He affirmed that the Vietnamese National Assembly will closely coordinate and accompany the Malaysian Parliament and other parliaments to continue promoting the role of ASEAN Inter-parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) in promoting regional connectivity and linkages, raising the voice of the people, enhancing people-to-people exchanges and promoting the implementation of sustainable development goals in Southeast Asia./.
