Top legislator meets Cambodian Prime Minister
VGP – Chairman of the National Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue on Sunday met with Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen as part of his ongoing official visit to Cambodia.
Prime Minister Hun Sen welcomed Vuong's first official visit as the top Vietnamese legislator to Cambodia, saying the visit would contribute to consolidating the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
The visit also demonstrates Viet Nam's strong support for Cambodia's role as the Chair of ASEAN and AIPA in 2022, emphasized Hun Sen.
He spoke highly of the outcomes of the talks between Vuong and Cambodian National Assembly Chairman Samdech Heng Samrin and Senate President Samdech Say Chhum.
The two legislative bodies should continue strengthening cooperation in information exchanges and experience sharing in law-making and monitoring the implementation of the agreements signed between the two countries, Hun Sen said.
Prime Minister Hun Sen conveyed greetings to Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc, and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
For his part, Vuong congratulated Cambodia on the positive outcomes gained during Cambodia's ASEAN Chairmanship Year 2022, and the success of the recent 40th and 41st ASEAN Summits and related Summits, expressing his belief that Cambodia will successfully host the upcoming AIPA-43.
Vuong expressed his hope that Hun Sen would continue direct the promotion of the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, including such fields like defense-security, trade, investment, agriculture, education and training, tourism, people-to-people exchanges, and local-to-local cooperation.
He also asked Cambodia to create favorable conditions for Cambodians of Vietnamese origin to stabilize their lives and actively contribute to prosperous development in Cambodia and to the bilateral ties.
