The King reiterated that Belgium always attaches importance to its relations with Viet Nam, and stands ready to accompany and support the Southeast Asian nation in successfully achieving its sustainable development goals.

To Lam, for his part, hailed the strong bonds between the states and peoples of the two countries, expressing gratitude to the Belgian Chamber of Representatives for being the first legislative body in the world to adopt a resolution supporting Vietnamese victims of Agent Orange/dioxin, which stands as testament to the humanitarian spirit and deep solidarity between the two peoples.

With a view to elevating the bilateral relations to a new level, the top Vietnamese leader suggested that both sides step up efforts to effectively harness the potential for economic, trade and investment cooperation, particularly in areas where both countries have strengths, such as seaports, science and technology, and semiconductors.

To Lam also thanked Belgium for having ratified the EU–Viet Nam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA). He expressed confidence that once the agreement enters into force, it will create more favorable conditions for businesses from both sides.

The two leaders vowed to continue strengthening cooperation in education and training, culture, and people-to-people exchanges.

Both sides reaffirmed their strong commitment to multilateralism, underscoring the role of the United Nations and the need for strict compliance with international law and the UN Charter in maintaining peace, stability and cooperation around the world./.
