Top leader reaffirms Viet Nam's unwavering support for Laos' development
VGP - General Secretary and President of Viet Nam To Lam on Tuesday hosted a reception for Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Khamphan Phommathat who is in Viet Nam to attend the 7th expanded justice conference of Vietnamese and Lao border provinces.

To Lam stressed that the exchange of high-level visits, including Phommathat's ongoing Viet Nam visit, reflects the fact that both countries attach importance to consolidating and enhancing their great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, and strategic cohesion.
He said that the fine growth of the bilateral ties comes as a result of effective contributions from both sides' ministries, agencies, and localties, including the two ministries of justice.
To Lam affirmed that Viet Nam always gives the highest priority to advancing the great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, and strategic cohesion with Laos, considering this as the strategic task for national development in each country.
He reiterated Viet Nam's unwavering support for the development of Laos, and its readiness to share experience with Laos across all fields.
The Vietnamese leader urged the two ministries of justice to strengthen mutual assistance and coordination, share experience in a bid to improve the working capacity of judicial staff, while working closely together to fruitfully implement the high-level agreements reached between the two countries' senior- leaders.
Regarding the 7th justice conference, To Lam said this is a practical cooperation mechanism that has played an important role in maintaining security and order and promoting socio-economic development along the shared border areas.
He called on the two countries to actively coordinate in handling emerging issues in the border areas, creating favorable conditions for border residents to increase exchanges and stabilize their life, thus contributing to the building of the shared border line of peace, friendship, stability, and sustainable development.
Phommathat conveyed the warmest greatings from General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith to General Secretary and President To Lam and other high-ranking Vietnamese leaders.
He said that this year's justice conference will focus on such issues as legislation improvement, nationality in border areas, and high-quality human resource training for Laos' justice sector./.
