Top leader calls on youth to master science and technology, take lead in innovation and int'l integration

To Lam made the call while addressing the 13th National Congress of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in Ha Noi on June 25.
In the new era, knowledge, science, data, innovation, and human quality will shape national competitiveness, he said, adding that investing in youth means investing in the country's long-term competitiveness.
For a country to achieve fast and sustainable development, maintain autonomy, and successfully integrate into the global economy, its must possesses the youth that is professionally competent, highly skilled, culturally imbued, resilient, and deeply socially responsible, To said.
He went on to say that young people should not merely study for degrees, they must study to master their own lives and serve the Fatherland. Each young individual needs to cultivate the habit of self-learning, master foreign languages, hone digital, professional, critical thinking, collaborative, and adaptive skills to thrive in a rapidly changing society and labor market.
The top Vietnamese leader also called on the Communist Youth Union to further deepen the education of revolutionary ideals while nurturing patriotism, political mettle, lifestyle, and the aspiration for making contributions to the Fatherland among the youth.
Notablly, the Communist Youth Union needs to enable young people to understand the value of independence and freedom, the path of national independence coupled with socialism, why the Party's leadership is the decisive factor in every victory of the Vietnamese revolution.
Young people must also understand that patriotism today means living responsibly, studying seriously, working creatively, abiding by the la, nurturing personal integrity, and serving the people.
To Lam called for a comprehensive innovation of youth movements to make them more practical, specialized, and outcome-oriented.
He stressed that Viet Nam needs a new spirit from the youth: think broader, learn faster, work better, have better lifestyle, act more responsibly, and contribute more to national development./.
