The visit will be made at the invitation of President of the Vietnamese National Assembly.

Political and diplomatic relations between Viet Nam and Laos have constantly been consolidated and advanced in sustainable and substantive manner over the past years. The two sides always give the highest priority to each other in their foreign policies.

In particular, during the visit of General Secretary To Lam (now General Secretary and President) in December 2025, the two countries officially elevated relations and supplemented the content of "strategic cohesion", and established foundational principles and new orientations for bilateral ties amid the current global landscape.

Regarding economic, trade and investment cooperation, Viet Nam continues to be one of the largest foreign investors in Laos with 300 projects worth US$7.04 billion.

In the first seven months of 2026, Viet Nam has 20 new projects in Laos with total registered capital of US$638.3 million, an increase of 4.2 times compared to the same period last year.

In addition, Viet Nam and Laos maintain extensive multi-sectoral cooperation, from exchanging legislative experiences between the two National Assembly agencies; cooperation in education, training, culture, and tourism; cooperation between departments, ministries, branches, mass organizations and localities of the two countries; and mutual support at international and sub-regional forums./.
