Top Cuban legislator to visit Viet Nam
VGP - A delegation led by President of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba Esteban Lazo Hernández will pay a working visit to Viet Nam from November 2-3.
The visit will be made at the invitation of Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Tran Thanh Man, according to an announcement of the NA's Foreign Affairs Committee.
Earlier, from September 25-27, General Secretary To Lam paid an official visit to Cuba. During the visit, the Vietnamese leader held talks, meetings, and high-level interactions with leaders of the Party, State, Government, and National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba.
He also engaged in several activities to strengthen the solidarity, friendship, and cooperation between the Parties, States, and people of Viet Nam and Cuba.
The leaders of Viet Nam and Cuba showed determination to continue developing the two countries' traditional solidarity, special friendship and comprehensive cooperation to a new level that is more comprehensive, substantive, effective, and sustainable in the spirit of companionship, and mutual cooperation and development for socialism building, for the interests of the people of both countries, as well as for peace, cooperation, and development in each region and around the world.
Cuba was the first country in the Western Hemisphere to establish full diplomatic relations with Viet Nam (December 2, 1960). Over the last more than 60 years, despite global challenges, the brotherly solidarity between the two countries has grown stronger, expanding in many areas.
The political and diplomatic ties between the two countries have paved the way for expanded economic cooperation. Viet Nam is now Cuba's second-largest trading partner and the largest investor from the Asia-Pacific region. Vietnamese companies have invested in seven projects within the Mariel Special Development Zone.
Despite geographical distance, exchanges and cooperation between local governments, political organizations, and citizens of both countries remain active, and have achieved positive results./.
