Accordingly, three national centers for bio-technology located in the North, Center and South will be established and equipped with modern and comprehensive facilities in line with international standards and a capable workforce – between 200-500 persons each – to effectively serve bio-technology studies at the national level as well as trial production and practical applications.

From 2016-2020, the Viet Nam Academy of Science and Technology and the Centre for Bio-technology in Ho Chi Minh City will be upgraded and a centre will be built in the central region.

Ten other national-level bio-technology laboratories will be developed in terms of advanced facilities and human resources.

Bi-technology is considered as a key sector besides information technology and new building materials technology.
