Thirty-nine senior leadership positions to be elected this week
VGP - The 16th National Assembly is set to elect and approve 39 senior leadership positions during its first working session starting Monday, April 6.
During the first 2.5 days, legislators will elect Chairman of the National Assembly, Vice Chairpersons of the National Assembly, members of the National Assembly, and Chairpersons of the National Assembly's Committees, Auditor General of the State Audit of Viet Nam; Secretary-General of the National Assembly.
The National Assembly will elect State President, Prime Minister, Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court; and the Chief Procurator of the Supreme People's Procuracy.
Under the Constitution, the National Assembly Chairman, the State President, the Prime Minister, and the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court shall take the oath of office before the National Assembly immediately after being elected.
The legislators will also confirm nominees for the positions of Deputy Prime Ministers and Cabinet ministers at the proposal of the new Prime Minister.
Beside personnel work, the National Assembly will consider and adopt the five-year socio-economic development plan for 2026–2030; the national five-year financial plan for 2026–2030; the public debt borrowing and repayment plan for 2026–2030; and the medium-term public investment plan for 2026–2030./.
