The New York Times licensed to open bureau in Viet Nam
VGP – The American daily New York Times has been licensed to open a bureau in Viet Nam, which will help the newswire to better tell the story of this rapidly-evolving country and to accurately and objectively portray relations between Viet Nam and the U.S.
Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang handed over the license to the New York Times' bureau chief in Viet Nam Damien Cave at a ceremony in Ha Noi on September 5.
Addressing the event, le said the establishment of the bureau would facilitate The New York Times' journalistic work in Viet Nam and provide a vivid coverage of the Southeast Asian country and the region.
The representative office is also expected to help the international community better understand Viet Nam as a dynamic and innovative country with creative and hardworking people.
Le expressed his belief that The New York Times' bureau will also produce in-depth stories on the Viet Nam-U.S. relations and contribute to strengthening the bilateral relations.
For his part, Damien Cave said that Viet Nam is gaining a higher and more important role in the international space, while the Viet Nam-U.S. relations have seen significant progress.
