Thai PM to visit VN next week
VNGOP – Thai PM Samak Sundaravej will start the official visit to Việt Nam on March 24. The visit is expected to be a chance for the two countries to promote economic and trade ties.
Over the past time, investment and business activities have been boosted between Thailand’s northeast provinces and Central Việt Nam.
The two-way trade turnover reached nearly US $4.8 billion, increasing by 21.3% against 2006. According to statistics up to March 10, 2008, Thailand’s 169 FDI projects remain valid, with the total registered capital of US $1.66 billion, focusing mainly on construction and industries. There are 40 joint-ventures worth of US $714.
Việt Nam and Thailand are continuing their cooperation mechanism in rice export. They have also reached agreement in exploiting the East-West corridor and boosting cooperation within ASEAN, ACMECS, and GMS.
