Ten Vietnamese dishes win Asian records

VGP - The Asian Record’s Organisation (ARO) has recognised 10 Vietnamese unique dishes for their gastronomic importance to the region.

Pho is one of 10 Vietnamese unique dishes
The dishes include three specialties of the capital city of Hanoi: Pho (noodle served with beef and chicken), Bun cha (rice noodle served with grilled pork) and Bun thang (rice vermicelli served with chicken, fried egg strands, lean meat pie strands and mushroom).

The northern port city of Hai Phong has one dish in the list - Banh da cua (scrab noodles), the northern province of Ninh Binh has Com chay (rice crackers), while the central province of Nghe An has Mien luon (eel vermicelli).

Pho Kho (dry noodles) originating from the Central Highland province of Gia Lai, and Banh khot (coconut-turmeric shrimp pancakes) of Vung Tau city in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau are also among the recognised dishes.

The biggest city in the south, Ho Chi Minh City, previously known as Sai Gon, contributes two dishes to the list: Goi cuon (fresh spring roll) and Com tam (broken rice).

A representative from ARO will present the certificates of recognition to representatives of the localities where the dishes orginate, at a ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City next month./.
