State President’s first activities in Venezuela

VGP – In the first day of his Venezuela visit, State President Nguyễn Minh Triết laid a wreath at the National Monument dedicated to Hero Simón Bolívar and visited the Municipal Hall of Caracas on November 19 (local hour).

The Vietnamese head of state expressed his admiration to the heroic struggle launched by Simón Bolívar for independence and freedom of Venezuela and other Latin American nations.
He emphasized the historical similarities and strong will shared by the Vietnamese and Venezuelan peoples, as reflected in statements of Venezuelan hero Simón Bolívar - "Our flag is independence and freedom" - and Vietnamese President Hồ Chí Minh - "Nothing compares to independence and freedom".
President Triết showed his confidence that, with such revolutionary spirit and iron-will, the two peoples will cement their solidarity, building their respective countries powerful, and contributing to the world’s peace and development.

At the Caracas Municipal Hall, conferring the Vietnamese leader the certificate of “Honorable Citizen” of the City, Mayor Joan Bareto stated that this act showed the friendship and good sentiments of people of Caracas in particular and of Venezuela in general to the President and the Vietnamese people.
The Mayor recalled Việt Nam’s heroic resistance wars for the sake of national salvation, stressing that “Việt Nam is an example of a courageous nation”.

President Triết took the occasion to confirm that the Vietnamese people always remember by heart Venezuela’s solidarity and support to Việt Nam in the past and at present as well. He showed his hope that, on the basis of the solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Việt Nam and Venezuela, Caracas and Hà Nội, together with other localities of the two countries, should promote their cooperation for the development of the two nations.
It was reported that this morning, President Nguyễn Minh Triết has a meeting with the Venezuelan NA Chairman, delivers a speech at the Venezuelan legislature, and receives leaders of the Communist Party of Venezuela and the United Socialist Party of Venezuela.
