During the meeting with Sultan of Brunei Hassanal Bolkiah, the two leaders pledged to work closely together to further deepen bilateral relations for the benefit of the two countries' people, contributing to peace, stability, and cooperation in the region and the world.

The Vietnamese Head of State emphasized the need to strengthen cooperation in all fields, especially in the four priority areas of oil and gas, chemicals, Halal food processing, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.

He promised to create favorable conditions for Brunei enterprises to expand investment in Viet Nam, calling on both sides to soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the Halal sector.

He also expressed his hope that Brunei would assist Vietnamese enterprises in production processes and certification for agricultural and Halal products, and facilitate import of Vietnamese Halal products.

For his part, the Sultan of Brunei expressed his desire to further enhance practical cooperation with Viet Nam, including in the areas of economy and trade, energy, oil and gas, culture, and people-to-people exchanges.

He affirmed that Brunei will continue to provide capacity-building support for Vietnamese officials through scholarship programs, including English language training.

The two leaders underscored the importance of enhancing ASEAN unity and centrality in the region, and promoting cooperation on regional and international issues of mutual concern, including the East Sea issue.

They underlined the need to promote substantive and effective negotiations on the Code of Conduct (COC) in accordance with international law, especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982).
